Testimonials: Multiple Sclerosis and
Acupuncture
"I have had the most
extraordinary experience having had acupuncture
during an acute episode of intercostal neuritis,
which led me to the ER one evening.
After having x-rays of
my ribs and chest (which were normal), I left the
hospital ER with a shot of Toradol and a
prescription.
I called my neurologist
several times because the pain was just about
unbearable. She prescribed Vicodin, which I
took faithfully, because I could barely take a deep
breath without pain. Of course, I felt quite spaced
out (I don't care for that feeling).
Then, I called David
Sollars, an acupuncturist at FirstHealth of Andover, MA, who has
been treating me for pain for about three years.
He proceeded to use an acupuncture machine on the
area, which sends signals to the nerve pain and he
also applied needles to appropriate areas.
Like magic, I have not had to take Vicodin since.
What saddens me is that
insurance companies still consider acupuncture
alternative medicine and will not cover it. In
my estimation, acupuncture is much more cost
effective than the many trips to the Emergency Room
and all the narcotics prescribed.
Me, I'm lucky! I
want to spread the GOOD NEWS. Try acupuncture
for acute MS pain if you are able to afford it.
If not, we need to get the insurance companies to
realize what a blessing acupuncture is!"
Sincerely,
MH,
MA
